Creative Uses For Bottles & Jars This Christmas

Get your creative juices flowing this Christmas by utilising your empty jars and bottles to create a festive wonderland in your home! The arts and crafts projects featured below are great to make with young children and helps get them excited for the big day!

Homemade Candles

It’s easier than you might think to make your own candles, made even better by the fact that you can choose your own scents and colours to match your home! All you need is wax, wicks, fragrance oils and a container that is suitable for hot fill. If all else fails, you can just place tea lights in shallow empty glass jars for a similar, less fragrant effect.

You can find a brilliant, detailed tutorial on how to make candles at The Art Of Manliness

Homemade Drinks & Food Gifts

Christmas is a holiday where most celebrations are based around the consumption of food! Why not add to the excess by making your own jams, chutneys, relishes and sauces to gift to friends and family?

We have plenty of festive recipe inspiration on our recent collection of tasty Christmas preserve recipes that you can try out.

Stylish Winter ‘Flower’ Displays

Whilst we associate large flower displays with spring and summer, you can still make a stylish ‘flower-like’ display for winter with a bit of imagination and appreciation for minimalism. Instead of big, blooming displays, you can easily get some twigs and larger branches to arrange into attractive shape, and then wrap some fairy lights around the twigs! We think that they would look great on a mantelpiece or corner table.

Snow Globes

Take an empty glass jar that has a matching lid, grab some glitter or fake snow, and then set about creating a miniature 3D winter scene! You could paste a family photo or winter landscape to the back of the jar to set the scene nicely, add a few ornaments to create the 3D effect and then fill with water and glitter. Put the lid on, give it a shake and marvel at your arts and crafts skills!

Christmas Reindeer Jars

Kids will love making this cute little reindeer jar! It’s super-easy to make and you can find all that you need at your local arts and crafts store: brown pipe cleaner, red pom poms, googly eyes and glue. They would be great not only as a decoration, but also as a fun gift for young children!

Fairy Light Jars

Fill a large jar (like our 1 Litre Le Parfait Jar or our 2lb Traditional Glass Jar) with a chain of small, battery-operated fairy lights. This creates a space-like effect and looks great when placed on a mantelpiece or corner table during cosy winter nights in!
