Eco-Friendly Packaging Solutions To Consider For Your Products

ECO HEADER

Eco-friendly packaging is the future of the manufacturing and packaging industries; due to both growing consumer demand for it, and innovations driven by science and industry leaders. Here at Ideon, we always strive to provide our customers with a wide range of packaging choices, which includes eco-friendly packaging options. From our range of glass, plastic and aluminium products, there is an eco-friendly solution to suit every type of product.

Eco-Friendly Packaging Solutions:

Glass

Aside from cardboard and plant-based materials, glass is one of the best materials for the environment that you can choose. It can be endlessly recycled without ever losing quality, whilst also giving your products a high quality feel and look. Make sure that any glass you use in your manufacturing has been recycled, as this drastically reduces the amount of energy that is needed to create new glass products, compared to using brand new glass material. This is due to the fact that cullet (glass pellets that have been previously recycled) melt at a lower temperature than new glass. Glass produced from recycled glass reduces related air pollution by 20% and related water pollution by 50%!

At Ideon, we have glass varieties of almost all of our popular product lines: from beauty and toiletries to food and drink.

Plastic

“Plastic isn’t eco-friendly”, we hear you cry! Whilst plastic is one of the biggest causes of pollution all over the world; its harm can be drastically reduced when it is recycled or disposed of properly. This doesn’t necessarily negate any of the harm caused by its production, but it does make a small difference, especially if you simply cannot avoid the use of plastic when packaging your products. Plastic has so many fantastic features that are hard to replicate with other materials; including being lightweight, flexible and cheaper than more eco-friendly packaging alternatives. Plastic is also one of the best choices when packaging abrasive substances such as cleaning products and chemical solutions.

If you still need to use plastic in your packaging products, then PET and HDPE plastics are both fully recyclable and the best choice you can make going forward. Although plastic does lose its quality each time it is recycled, recent tests have shown that HDPE can be recycled at least 10 times when done in controlled conditions. HDPE and PET plastic are both collected widely throughout the UK, which makes them the best choice for plastic packaging you can go for. Please do make sure that you clearly mark your product as being fully recyclable so that your customers are clear on how to properly dispose of their waste. There’s no point in using recyclable materials if they are not going to be recycled by your customers!

If you want to boost your recycling credentials even more, then we also have a small collection of PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic bottles, that are rapidly gaining popularity in the industry.

Check out our post-consumer recycled plastic bottles!

PCR plastics are simply plastic products that have been produced using previously recycled plastics. We currently have a small range of PCR plastic products available online, which we will continue to expand over time. Read more about our PCR range here, where you can find out which of our products are part of this collection.

We also have a great range of 250ml PLA Plastic Bottles available on Ampulla, our sister site, which is made using 100% plant material! This means that they are biodegradable and can be composted in industrial composter machines. You won’t believe it until you see them!
